Identification and Characteristic Analysis of CDPK Gene Family in

Boea hygrometrica

ABSTRACT

 

Calcium-dependent protein kinases (CDPKs) are a class of serine/threonine-type protein kinases unique to plants, and CDPKs play an important role in mediating plant growth and development and signaling in response to adversity. Most higher plants are unable to tolerate extreme dehydration, however, Boea hygrometrica has evolved a unique dehydration tolerance mechanism, able to tolerate more than 90% loss of body water and rapidly resume living conditions after rehydration. In order to reveal the role of CDPK genes in the growth and development and drought defense mechanism, this study used bioinformatics tools to identify CDPK gene family members at the genome-wide level, analyze their phylogeny, gene structure, chromosomal localization, and predict the functions of some genes based on the genomic data of Boea hygrometrica. The CDPK gene family identified in this study and its correlation analysis provide a theoretical basis for a genome-wide study of the function of CDPK genes in the drought stress response of Boea hygrometrica.
